How to Avoid Overhead Crane Wheels Damage

Wheels are important load-bearing components of overhead cranes. Because the crane wheel runs on the track, it is affected by factors such as the track installation quality and the manufacturing deviation of the wheel itself.
 
Skew and slip will inevitably occur during operation, causing the wear of the wheel tread and the rim to be very fast, and many wheels will be scrapped if they are not used for a long time.
 
The wheel flange is subjected to the lateral pressure of a single-beam crane. During driving, 70% to 80% of the wheel's stroke must rub against the side of the track. Therefore, under normal circumstances, the rim is first worn out and scrapped. In order to improve the service life of the wheel, the height of the wheel flange can be appropriately increased to increase the contact area and reduce the contact stress.
 
Wheel tread wear and surface peeling are also common forms of damage. This phenomenon occurs, on the one hand, it is normal wear, and on the other hand, the quality of the wheel tread heat treatment is unqualified. After the wheels are processed, the wheel set should be heat-treated with power frequency local heating to increase the hardness of the wheel tread and prolong the service life of the wheels.
