Overhead Crane 5 Ton - Overhead Travelling Crane for Glass Handling

Client's Requirement

Recently, DQCRANES received an inquiry about design, manufacture and install a new overhead travelling crane, will be used in a general workshop capacity for handling of large panes of glass in Uruguay. 

The Challenge

The customer needed to supply lifting coverage over a large working area so the crane load hook needed to be able to be positioned anywhere within 3 axis, allowing for hoisting up and down, travel left to right and long travel forward and backwards. 

The Solution

In order to supply an ideal solution to client's handling needs, our sales engineer confirmed all their handling issues and discussed all the potential solutions before deciding that a single girder overhead travelling crane was mounted into the existing steel structure and concrete floor of the workshop.


 
A single girder overhead crane offered by DQCRANES, totally 29 metres in length and with a span of 19.9 metres, lifting height 5.4m and a safe working load of 5t as required. This 5 ton overhead crane gives the customer as much coverage of the crane as possible in the working area, whilst allowing them to lift pieces of potentially large panes of glass safely.

• Considering the certain fragility of glass products (even when it comes to reinforced glass), the designers of our plant understood that it was necessary to manufacture a crane that would ensure maximum smoothness of lifting and moving loads.
• This top running crane system was fitted with a 5 ton electric wire rope hoist which benefits from a travelling motor gear box, ensuring smooth travelling speeds, all of which is controlled with a radio remote control system.
• As the main uses for this overhead crane are to assist in transferring material around the workshop and loading/unloading trucks, the radio remote control system we supplied with the electric wire rope hoist makes for a safer transition when doing so. 
• Handling delicate glass structures naturally carries a risk, however, a radio remote control allows freedom to move around the working area from a safe distance, without being connected to the crane via a cabled handset. 
• The visibility made possible by the freedom of the radio remote control system also makes for a greater level of accuracy, so for a company who deal with large panes of glass this massively beneficial.
